SheetSight Terms of Use

Last updated: 19 October 2026

These terms cover your use of SheetSight. They sit alongside Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User Licence Agreement, which applies to apps from the App Store. Apple’s agreement grants you the licence to use the app. These terms add the points that are specific to SheetSight. If the two ever disagree, Apple’s agreement wins.

SheetSight is published by Picksley Labs Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company no. 17349725). Registered office: Suite RA01, 195–197 Wood Street, London E17 3NU. I’m David Picksley, and I build it. “I” in these terms means Picksley Labs Ltd.

What SheetSight is

A learning companion for the music you already own. You photograph a page, and it shows you the key, the chords, the note range and which hand plays what, in plain English.

It is a companion to reading music, not a replacement for it. It is not a course, and it is not a teacher.

Readings can be wrong

Reading music from a photograph is hard. SheetSight can misread notes, the key, chords, the time signature, the title or the composer, especially on a curved, shadowed or unusual page.

The app tries to show when a value is its own estimate rather than something printed on the page. It can still be wrong without saying so. Treat every reading as a learning aid, check it against the page, and ask a teacher when it matters, for example before an exam or a performance.

Your music

You are responsible for making sure you have the right to photograph, and keep a copy of, any music you scan. Most published sheet music is protected by copyright.

Your scans stay on your device. I never receive them, and I claim no rights in them. Don’t use SheetSight to copy, share or distribute music you don’t have the rights to.

Your data

SheetSight keeps everything on your device. The Privacy Policy explains what is kept and how to delete it. You are responsible for your device and its backups. If you delete the app or a piece, I can’t recover it, because I never had a copy.

Buying SheetSight

SheetSight is a one-off paid purchase from the App Store. There are no in-app purchases, no subscriptions and no adverts.

Apple handles the purchase, billing and refunds. I never see your payment details. To ask for a refund, use Apple’s Report a Problem page.

Your purchase lets you use SheetSight on the Apple devices you own or control, and with your family where Apple’s Family Sharing allows, under Apple’s EULA and Usage Rules.

Test versions

If you use a test version through TestFlight, it may be unfinished and may lose data. Apple’s TestFlight terms also apply.

Open-source software

SheetSight includes open-source software, each part under its own licence. The full list, with each licence, is in the app: tap ⓘ on Home, then Open-source acknowledgements. Those licences govern those parts, and nothing in these terms limits the rights they give you.

Using the app fairly

Please don’t:

  • use SheetSight to break the law, including copyright law
  • tamper with or reverse-engineer the app, except where the law or an open-source licence allows it
  • claim that Picksley Labs endorses or sponsors something when it doesn’t

Changes

I may update SheetSight, change what it does, or stop offering it. If these terms change, I’ll update the date at the top. If you keep using the app after that, the new terms apply.

Liability

SheetSight is provided as it is. As far as the law allows, I am not liable for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable, or for indirect losses, from using it.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Nothing here takes away your statutory rights as a consumer, including your rights for digital content you pay for.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you can also bring a claim in your local courts.
